Elderberry Syrup Brianna Hart, March 6, 2024March 12, 2024 I’m mildly obsessed with Native Americans. Okay, that’s not entirely true. I’m very obsessed with Native Americans. I often think about the knowledge that they must have held all that time. The ways that they found to heal their bodies with the plants and animals around them is mind blowing to me. I feel like in today’s world there is very little trust in the health care system but there isn’t a ton of advice or resources to help you take care of yourself. A lot of us end up in a situation where we are sick and we don’t want to go to the doctor but we don’t know what else to do either. Functional and holistic doctors are great but not covered by insurance. It’s time to start turning back to the earth, just like our ancestors did. One good way to get started is by adding elderberry syrup to your daily routine.DisclaimerTHIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.Our Elderberry SyrupOur From the Hart Farm elderberry syrup is a blend of organic elderberries, organic cinnamon, organic ginger, and organic cloves. These blends work together to help your body in so many different ways. The most obvious way is to help your immune system but each piece of this blend helps with more than that. I think it’s important to dive into what each ingredient is capable of so that you are aware. Then, not only can you make your own syrup with one of our kits, but you can also look around your house for these common ingredients to help with other ailments as well.Benefits of ElderberriesWhen people think of elderberries they immediately think about their immune system. It’s true, elderberries are a great tool to help boost your immune system. However, they have many other benefits that might be of interest to you as well. If you did not read the disclaimer above, this is not medical advice (I’m just going to keep saying it). Moving on. Other benefits of Elderberries include:Reducing the duration and severity of cold/flu symptoms Relieving urinary tract infectionsHelps to fight sinus infectionsEases seasonal allergiesNatural laxative (can help you go #2)Natural diureticPromotes healthy skinHelps your body to produce healthy cells with anti-carcinogenic propertiesThere are also indications that it may even help your heart. Benefits of CinnamonThere are many reasons that we decided to include cinnamon in our elderberry syrup- beyond helping it to taste and smell delicious of course! The benefits of cinnamon include:Contains powerful antioxidants and polyphenols Helps the body fight infection and repair tissue damage (here is where the immune piece comes in for this ingredient)Known for its blood sugar lowering properties and can, in fact, dramatically help reduce insulin resistance Studies have shown it can be attributed with a lower risk of heart diseasePromotes healthy blood pressureThere are indications that it may also help aid weight lossBenefits of CloveI personally did not realize how useful cloves are beyond making your house smell positively divine (especially around the holidays). However, clove has many different benefits as well making it a valuable addition to our elderberry syrup:Eases cold and flu symptoms (especially sore throat)Increases blood circulationSupports oral health (try clove oil the next time you have a toothache!)Has properties that help regulate blood sugarCan alleviate headachesFights nauseaHelps with digestion (bloating and constipation)Supports the body in controlling high cholesterol levelsBenefits of GingerWhen I think of ginger I think of ginger ale and that reminds me of being pregnant. I loved ginger ale while I was pregnant and it honestly probably helped me avoid morning sickness. I know a lot of women that use ginger as a way to help ease their nausea during the first trimester. However, ginger also has a lot more benefits beyond nausea including:Helps to prevent infections (thus, boosting our immune system)Reduces inflammationAids in digestionNormalizes heart rateIncreases energy levelsHelps to regulate blood pressureIndications show it may aid in weight lossDIY Elderberry Syrup KitAs you can see, our elderberry syrup is well worth it. Not only will it help with your immune system but it can also help with all of these other things as well. Now, is it going to help you lose 10lbs in a week? No. However, it will help boost your body’s health and therefore put your body in a place where healthy habits can lead to weight loss. The other big benefits that I love are blood pressure and blood sugar. Mine have always been borderline high so this is an easy way for me to support them without taking any medication. Plus, our DIY elderberry syrup kits are so easy! Just simmer the contents with water and then store! There are more specific instructions included in the package but I promise- anyone can do this! In Summary: Elderberry SyrupAs more of the world starts to look for other solutions, we should see the popularity of elderberry syrup rise dramatically. There are many ways to get elderberry- gummies, vitamins, and tinctures to list a few. As I’ve mentioned, I prefer our kits because of the other things that they have in them beyond the elderberries. I love that it’s more versatile and I’m killing so many birds with just one stone. Elderberry syrup makes for a super supplement that can help fight illness during cold and flu season but can also help us restore our own health year round.Share Homestead elderberryhealthcareherbs
