His answer is that he doesn’t remember them making anything special. It’s a response that makes me sad but I know it can’t be completely true because he talks about how much his mom and grandma used to cook. With some prompting I’ve gotten a few recipes from him. This year for New Year’s he asked for Grandma Cindi’s macaroni salad and it delivered a treat my whole family enjoyed!Ingredients for Grandma Cindi’s Macaroni Salad16 oz macaroni- cook as directed 4-5 carrots, chopped 1 large onion, chopped 1 med green pepper, chopped “Sauce”2 cups Miracle Whip 14oz condensed milk ½ cup sugar ½ cup vinegar Salt & Pepper to tasteDirections Combine sauce ingredients and set aside. In a separate, great big bowl, combine macaroni and chopped veggies. No seriously, you need a great big bowl like this stainless steel one. Pour the sauce over pasta and mix well. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.Sweetened Condensed MilkSo, I struggled a bit with the ingredients only because of the processed ingredients. I genuinely don’t know if there’s a better version of Miracle Whip, though I wish there was. However, I did find a better sweetened condensed milk! It’s organic and tasted great. I’m so thrilled to share a new option to make this one slightly better for us.I grabbed this locally but you can also grab organic sweetened condensed milk on Amazon. I’ve linked it here for you.In Summary: Grandma Cindi’s Macaroni SaladThe only sad part about Grandma Cindi’s macaroni salad is that it doesn’t last long. No problem for us though because we devour it! Even my dad, who doesn’t love pasta salads, really liked this one. It’s a great side dish year round. It’s still wild to me that my husband doesn’t have recipes and treats he remembers from the holidays when we have many like snowball cookies, ribbon jello, and pretzel rings that are made yearly! What special things do you make around the holidays? Share them with us in the comments and we may feature them here- I’m always looking for new things to try.
